For the last couple of decades, I’ve been treading on a conscious journey of self-discovery. I have consciously adopted a specific process to help facilitate myself on this journey. The purpose is to find out more about my hiddens strengths and talents, as I realize more of my unrealized potential.  I have found this experience to be liberating and empowering. In this piece, I will tell you how you can also embark on an incredible journey of self-discovery.

Sort Out Your Priorities

We are living a fast-paced life where we are contonstantly distracted from our daily distractions by even more distractions. If we arwe to get back on track we must be purposeful about our intentions at work, in the community and with our family. When you embark on self-discovery, you need to hold yourself responsible for the progress you make. Some people nay call this selfishness, however, I beg to differ. Self-care is critical if you’re to live a healthy, balanced life and be able to contribute to others. Investing time in this direction is truly critical in these days of strife and struggle.

Learn to Set Boundaries

Putting yourself first requires that you learn to set boundaries in your life. If you’re always there for others, but doing little to support your own growth and satisfaction, you quickly burn out. It’s good to support your friends, family, or colleagues when they need your company, but always keep it in balance with supporting personal aims and aspirations. You don’t let others take you for granted when you don’t take yourself for granted. Take yourself seriously when it comes to your health and wellbeing.. Make sure you know your self woerth and others will naturally respect you.

Make Conscious Decisions

Your time on this planet is limited; utilize it wisely. Act with positive intentions. When you’re at work, set aside time to check in with yourself and see if you’re on target with what you’re doing. Resist the urge to immediately respond to texts and emails, and only do so once you’re deliberately taking a break from your work chores. Such an approach will not only make you more productive at work, but also less stressed out.

The Bottom Line

If you want to embark on an incredible journey of self-discovery, you need to prioritize yourself and act with deliberate intention.. In my book The Maestro Monologue: Discover Your Genius. Defeat Your Intruder. Design Your Destiny , I delve in details about how to make progress by dealing with those barriers that stop you from making progress in your life. Wait, there’s more! Recently, I appeared on a podcast  with a life coach and motivational speaker Sandy Joy Weston M.Ed. We had a fruitful discussion on how you can transform your life and live up to your potential.
