When I was thirteen, I had a paper route. I thought the best way to deliver papers was the RUSHED way – just toss them toward the front porch and peddle on quickly. At the end of the week, I found my tips were scarce. My weekly pay was always only tips – no salary, no per-paper fee.
Well, it didn’t take me long to begin delivering the papers the RIGHT way. I took the time to dismount my bike and place the newspapers directly in front of the front door.
After many, many years of testing the RIGHT or RUSHED way of doing things, it is now clear to me that what’s RIGHT is a matter of seeking excellence in everything I do.
Question: So, where is this excellence? Is it in the doing; is it in the external motion we take? Or is the excellence inside of me and you?
Answer: Forever, the excellence is inside of you! It is intrinsically part of you.
Furthermore, when the excellence, is taken away, it has a grave effect on how you think, and consequently on what you do. The excellence can only be taken away when you harbor a lousy attitude.
When you hold a lofty position that is considered excellent, it’s expected that you will act in ways that demonstrate the excellence that the position calls for. And how do you get appointed to such lofty positions? When you are excellent with all of your thoughts, words and actions for no specific reason and because of no position, then you find yourself being promoted to excellent positions that match your rich attitude and productive mood.
Ponder this for a moment: excellence lies in your nature. This virtue is a natural part of your existence. You’d have not learned to read and write so wonderfully and lastingly had it not been that you approached these tasks with an attitude of excellence in mind.
Whoever strives to do superior things without an attitude of excellence in mind, does inferior things. In fact, an inferiority complex is nothing but the results of settling for RUSHING through life rather than seeking to do one’s life RIGHT. Those who feel impoverished within demonstrate RUSHED decisions and actions without. Those who feel prosperous within, take the time to seek RIGHTNESS and wield a lot of clout.
TIP of the day: No longer be RUSHED; cease living in the slush. Seek RIGHTNESS with all that you do, and life will unfold in marvelous ways for you.
Perhaps you’ve had an unassuming, ordinary guru or two pass your way to show you the promise of RIGHTNESS. A pair of Robins just built a nest in a Lilac bush in my backyard. We had a heavy rainstorm and strong winds pass through last night. Talk about RIGHTNESS! That Robin’s nest is secure and tight. I believe the Robins came to teach me an important lesson: “No matter where we go, we build a nest fit for a king, and no matter what comes our way we are able to take care of business and continue to sing.”
