Hello fellow “everyday, ordinary, unassuming guru” seekers. Every experience has a guru hidden in it, offering you a tip on which way to turn next. Remain alert. Be optimistic about what life is offering, even in what seems to be adverse times. There is a blessing. Yes, there is. Dom is looking deeper into himself. What a great way to invite gurus into your life. (see below)
Hi Mr White
Why is there a part of me that still insists on committing the same bad habits even though another part of me keeps promising to break those habits? This is a real wrestling match with me.
Any ideas? Dom
The part of you that insists on repeating those bad habits is still operating under the influence of the belief that says, “these habits are doing me some good.” You’re winning the battle, Dom, if you’re able to notice how toxic the bad habits are. Keep with it. There is a false feeling of aliveness that those bad habits offer you. Notice that, and don’t buy into it. As your insight into your own nature grows, Dom, fresh behavior will begin to replace bad habits.
Take a look at those habits that you seem to be stuck with. The only reason you’re stuck with them is because you think they do you more good than harm. Look again!
Blessings & love to all of you, Rob
PS – QUESTION: how can a person change himself? ANSWER: begin by noticing how your bad habits harm you much more than they help you
