Hello, fellow tribe members who are ever seeking to find another “ordinary, everyday, unassuming guru” passing your way, offering a golden truth or inspiring insight that helps you make your life right. It’s fun isn’t it!
I received this email yesterday. It made my blog writing chore very easy today. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Can I share an everyday, ordinary guru story that taught me a great lesson? I learned this lesson at your firewalk seminar over a decade ago, and Steve was the guru. To this day, I am grateful for this lesson.
After we walked the red hot coals, some were asked to stand up and share the experience. Back then I was shy and nervous, so I hoped I wouldn’t be called on to speak. The first guy who stood up, Steve was his name, said that he was afraid to put one step forward after other in life, but he realized that if he was to walk over the red hot coals he was going to have to put one foot forward after the other or he’d burn his feet badly. He started choking up a little bit and said that he did just that, he put one step forward after the other and successfully walked over the red hot cinders without any burns. He then said he was going to use this experience to remind himself that taking one step at a time was what he was going to do with his life for now on. He said he’d been burnt enough by life and it was time to put an end to that.
I never forgot that lesson. I have taken his wise guru advice many times in my own life since then and it has proven to work every time. He was an unassuming guru for me, Mr. White. Oh by the way, I didn’t get called on to tell of my experience. Wow, did I feel lucky.
Thank you for the firewalk experience Mr White, and thank you for the great lesson, Steve.
Blessings to you Mr. White, Kim B
I have nothing to add to that beautiful life-lesson Kim. I absolutely love that you shared it with all of us, and even more wonderful is that you have been carrying it with you for the past decade and calling upon it when you needed to. Furthermore, by sharing this great lesson, and pointing out that Steve was your unassuming guru, you have now stood up and shared even if it is some ten years later. CONGRATULATIONS!
Hey guys, don’t forget to ask: “What this got to do with me?” What are you going to do with all this power you are getting from the wonderful life-lessons we share on this blog site? Let yourself be both inspired and renewed whenever you glean something new from these blogs. Do it for you!
Blessings & Love, Rob
