Student: I’ve read many self-help books; I attend church regularly; I give to my favorite charities, I have a college degree, and yet my whole life is fraught with misery. What am I doing wrong?
Teacher: All of the good stuff that you’re doing, in hopes of living a productive, joyful, successful life, is in vain. You’re not adhering to The Law of Mind. The Law of Mind is like The Law of Chemistry – it is completely impersonal. It doesn’t care how generous you are or how devout a Christian, Hindu or Jew you may be. Whatever visions you impress on your mind will manifest in your life just as when you mix specific chemicals you get predictable results.
This student learned that his life of disappointment and misery was due to mixing negative thoughts with woeful emotions, which generated a destructive life of disappointment and misery. It matters not what else he did to try to make things better, if he doesn’t begin thinking right and feeling his might, he will spend the rest of his days feeling uptight.
