A child wants to catch the cool autumn breeze in a bucket so he can give to his mother. His sister wants to capture time in a bottle so she can give that to her mother.
That’s because when they’d asked mom, “What do you want for your birthday?” She’d answered, “Just a little time to enjoy the cool breeze of an autumn day.”
The children felt frustrated when they were unable to bucket the autumn breeze or bottle time. Is that foolish? They’re children, of course not – it’s part of the learning process.
What is foolish, though, is when an adult tries to capture a specific moment in time to savor for a lifetime. Life is always flowing; go with the flow; enjoy the moment, and be eager about the future. That’s the secret to living a life that’s rich and fulfilling.
