Student: What’s the greatest self-help book ever?
Teacher: The Bible
Student: The Bible? I thought that was a spiritual book to be understood mystically.
Teacher: To understand the Bible mystically is to translate its lessons pragmatically. If it’s not practical, it’s not spiritual, not mystical.
Student: What does the Bible reveal?
Teacher: The bible reveals great Laws of Mind and teaches how to practice these laws effectively.
Student: Will these Laws of Mind bring success to me?
Teacher: These Laws of Mind lead you from the bondage of other-dependency to the liberty of self-responsibility. That brings success to you.
Student: I thought the bible taught us to pray to a power outside of ourselves.
Teacher: If a person should say that the bible is telling you to look outside of yourself for the power that determines your destiny, believe him not. The kingdom of heavenly power is within you. That is what the bible is telling you.
Student: Can you give me one powerful lesson the bible teaches?
Teacher: One of the most commanding statements in the bible is, “Let there be light.” It’s in the light that you find the hope that you seek. It’s in that light that you learn that there is no hope, save the hope you have in yourself. And, it’s in that light that you find the might to make your dreams come true. For blessed, indeed, is the man who trusts in himself – his faith in God is ever measured by his confidence in self.
