Student: There’s a lot of things about my friend that bother me.
Teacher: Use the darkness that you see in your friend to correct the darkness that sits in the deep of you.
Student: I don’t know what you mean.
Teacher: What thou see-est in others, thou be-est in the deep of you. You can only see in your friend what you are inclined to be.
Student: I feel that my friend is too stubborn.
Teacher: With a little insight, you might notice that you, too, are stubborn.
Student: Wow, I hate to admit it, but I can think of times when others have told me I’m very stubborn, and I’ve refused to admit it.
Teacher: Right there, with that insight, you offer yourself the possibility of breaking free from the psychic chain that has you react stubbornly.
