Student: Can you show me how to stop destroying my life?
Teacher: Living with a peaceful mind gives you a very different experience of life than does living with a fiery mind. The peaceful mind looks for answers that align with harmony. Harmonious living is constructive living. A fiery mind has you react to events with a fiery attitude – which attracts more fire into your life. A fiery life is a destructive life.
A mind can only reflect its contents, and that which it reflects it attracts. The fiery mind is a factory that manufactures painful reactions, and ignorance of that fact causes a life of strife.
Student: I’ve been told that I have a “fiery attitude.” I thought that was a compliment. I can now see that I cause myself a lot of trouble when I look out at life with fire in my eyes.
Teacher: You thought the fire gave you control; it wields you out of control. Being reactive and out of control is a painful and unnecessary way of living – seek peace.
