It’s apparent to me that it’s easy to get along with others when I am relaxed and feeling free. I believe it’s everyone’s automatic nature to express congeniality when he feels secure with himself. And that’s because we’re basically all one; we are all sharing a common consciousness that is unique to humanness. In reality, we are not separate and apart from one another, even though physically it seems that way. The truth is simple: we are all branches of the same tree, called humanity.
Because we have the ability to see things differently, our sense of individuality is a function of our individual minds only. Every person that you encounter is a part of yourself, a branch from the same tree from whence you’ve sprouted. Therefore, whenever you find yourself disagreeing with another, you are disagreeing with an aspect of your own being; whenever you find yourself agreeing with another, you are agreeing with an aspect of yourself. And, yet we donot want to forget that it is in our diversity that we express unity, which is what gives growth and development to humanity.
Variety is a grand part of nature’s infinity. And so, each of us, in our own unique way, are fulfilling our part of the Grand Plan of Eternal Expansion. Claim your divine prerogative to be your individual self, and you’ll find it easy to express your uniqueness with an attitude of friendship toward everyone you meet.
Kahil Gibran speaks of “letting there be spaces in your oneness.” In your differentiation, you offer the best of you to the world. When you offer your best, it’s easy to be friendly and get along with everyone. You get along when you go along – when you allow them their space in their expression of Oneness. Don’t try to reform them. True harmony is to let others express their uniqueness; give them their space. That empowers you to express your uniqueness, which always puts you in a friendly mood. And there you have it – the secret to living in a friendly world.
