I saw a beautiful dead bird today, with red feathers speckled all through its wings. I felt sad. And then it came to me that this bird was an unassuming guru with a message for me. Death is a much misunderstood phenomenon. We’re taught that it’s the end of life, but is it? Perhaps it’s the turning point to a greater and better dimension of life. Yes, death is the end of a physical demonstration of the beauty we contain in our soul, but is it possible that it is simply a door to a greater expression of ourselves?
This beautiful dead bird got me thinking deeper about my concept of death. Out of my fear, I think of death as ugly and awful. The bird has stopped breathing. It’s heart was no longer beating. The bird, as he used to soar and sing, is no longer there. Just a dead corpse, lying there on the lawn. What if this phenomenon is just a transfer of the living spirit of the bird from one body to another? From one dimension of existence to another. What if eternal life takes us to a deeper dimension when we die of this physical existence. What is this other dimension is an existence with open skies and no dark clouds.
Just what if? Life sends me nothing but unassuming gurus to help me see things differently; look at life from a new perspective. Thank you, life, for this wonderful guru.
