When you’re feeling fearful, feeling worried, feeling anxious – where is this fear, where is this worry, where is this anxiety located? Does the fear exist in the world or in you? Look around you when you are feeling fearful. Is everyone around you reacting to life fearfully? Are some folks responding to life confidently and optimistically? If everyone is not feeling fearful, then it must be that the fear exists in you – in your consciousness!
Here’s a big one. Are you ready for it? That of which you are conscious becomes your world. Without consciousness nothing exists, not love, not beauty, not fear, not ugliness. The love is in your consciousness when you are loving the world. The beauty is in your consciousness when you are enjoying the beautiful life you live. The fear is in your consciousness when you feel anxious, doubtful and fearful. The ugliness is in your consciousness when you spend your day complaining about your life.
So, it is the contents of your consciousness, not the contents in the world, that bless you or intimidate you. It is your state of mind that determines the contents of your consciousness and subsequently – the kind of world in which you live.
Sailing ships, with precious cargo aboard, sail close to the shoreline. Do you know why? Because they can scoot into shore if a strong wind blows that can throw them off course. Your shoreline is the truth about you: you are marvelously made and destined to win at all whatever you set your mind to, and you are worthy of all that is good and beautiful. That is your shoreline! Set your mind to it. Remember your marvelously made nature always. Give thanks for it. Re-mind yourself daily of it.
Focusing on the fact that you are a marvelously made being is always your shoreline, and whenever a stormy wind comes upon you unexpectedly – turn your sail toward shore by reminding yourself that you are destined to win at your dreams and aspirations in spite of the storms that come your way. This reminder will bring you to the safe shore as the storm passes through.
Let nothing be more important that the contents of your consciousness, and remain conscious always of the above truth about you. Once you accept that truth personally, it gets easier and easier to locate the fear, and dispel it before it drives you out into the stormy seas.
