It’s time to look at an important word that we love to banter about, but usually use inappropriately. The word is “rapture.” Its original meaning was “to jump out” … to jump out of one’s usual way of being … to jump out of ones’ comfort zone … to jump out of our shell and feel the freedom of jumping into something new. The reason “rapture” gives you an outstanding feeling is because you are standing outside of your usual way of being. The next five blogs will look deeper into the incredible feeling of “rapture.”
How do you break free from the shell that you’ve now surrounded yourself with … so that you may, once again, feel the exuberance of rapture? Do you know what stops you? It’s fear – that crippling emotion that throws you into indecision and destroys your initiative to have breakthrough after breakthrough until you are soaring with the eagles around the mountaintops.
A man died of old age. At the funeral, someone started the rumor that he died of gonorrhea. The wife said nothing. Later, her daughter asked, “Why did you allow that ugly rumor to spread, that dad died of gonorrhea?” The wife said, “what do you want me to say?
The truth – that he died of diarrhea? I prefer they think that he died living a wild life rather than having the shit kicked out of him.”
When is the last time you experienced rapture? When is the last time you had the courage to break free? Where would you be? What would you be doing right now if you were to experience rapture?
