Over the next six days, we’re going to look at the truth about me and you. One truth is this: as children we couldn’t tell the difference between lies and the truth if our lives depended on it. In fact, our lives did depend on it, but we were helpless; we couldn’t discern myth from reality. And that’s why, as adults, life doesn’t flow as well as it should for so many of us – we’re still holding onto lies about being inadequate or unworthy, and insisting these lies are true. We even build forts to defend our beliefs; forts in our minds and forts in the world.
Over the next six blogs, we will look directly at matters that matter – matters that can help us put our feet squarely on the ground and walk a direct path to where we want to go, so we can be who we want to be. Let’s begin:
Most folks spend their lives either trying to get excited or trying not to get excited. Those trying to get excited are out of rhythm with life; they are constantly resisting what is apparent and hoping to create something new that will excite them. Those trying not to get excited are out of tune with life; they over-react to everything, and want to get into a spirit of flow that will calm them. And then there is the person who is in rhythm and in tune with life; the person who is open-minded, and enthusiastic about embracing the myriad experiences that are available. These folks are experiencing humanness to the fullest – they laugh, they cry, they strive, they rest. They are fully human, and love it. These are the folks who create productively and live joyfully. Where are you on this continuum? How can you use this lesson to make your day better? What insight does it give you to solve a problem or challenge confronting you?
