Over the next six days, we’re going to look at the truth about me and you. One truth is this: as children we couldn’t tell the difference between lies and the truth if our lives depended on it. In fact, our lives did depend on it, but we were helpless; we couldn’t discern myth from reality. And that’s why, as adults, life doesn’t flow as well as it should for so many of us – we’re still holding onto lies about being inadequate or unworthy, and insisting these lies are true. We even build forts to defend our beliefs; forts in our minds and forts in the world.
Over the next six blogs, we will look directly at matters that matter – matters that can help us put our feet squarely on the ground and walk a direct path to where we want to go, so we can be who we want to be. Let’s begin:
Lesson 4 of 6: Horse Power
The subconscious mind is the Clydesdale horse, and your conscious mind is the rider. And the Clydesdale horse does what the rider instructs it to do. But without proper training, the Clydesdale horse runs amuck, destroying things in its path. The conscious mind must train the subconscious to obey its orders. The subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between an imagining and reality. As the trainer, you want to use your conscious mind to teach the subconscious what you value, what you aspire to do, and what you want your life to be about. Take time daily to speak to your subconscious mind; direct it to help you with those aims and aspirations that are important to you. Don’t take this lightly; repetition of affirmations that spell out your determinations will bring the subconscious mind around to working with you. How can you use this lesson to make your day better? What insight does it give you to solve a problem or challenge confronting you?
