The problem with psychology is that it studies the human condition according to past demonstrations. It explains why you are as you are because of what has happened to you in the past. It considers your heredity and tradition most important to predict what you’ll do next.
And, then there’s spiritually. When one looks at a human being from a spiritual point of view – one looks at that person right now as pure potentiality, and gives little attention to one’s heredity. Spirituality prefers to look at you in terms of what you do with your future. Spirituality will tell you that you can become whatever you choose to become, and it depends not on what you have done.
In order to live a productive life that is a blessing to the world, you must continually evolve into something more than you were the days, weeks, months and years before. What if you never grew beyond who you were at age two … or age four … or even age twenty-two? The whole point of evolution is for you to grow and become more, and more, and more than you were. Otherwise, why be born?
Psychology can offer many insights, but if you intend to live creatively, then it is wise to take a spiritual perspective when looking at yourself. If you cannot see yourself as unlimited potential; if you cannot look toward your future with eager anticipation, then there’s no reason to do anything more than get yourself into a daily rut and accomplish your daily chores. BORING! That’s not what you’re here to do.
Taking on a spiritual point of view gives you a richer future to live into. Do you know what this statement means: “The kingdom of heaven is in you”? It means that your dreams can come true. It means that the power to produce the life that you yearn to experience is inside of you. It means that you, right now, have what it takes to make life as you want it to be.
You are in heaven to the extent that you have faith in yourself. With this kind of faith, you feel like you are on top of the world, and you know that a good and beautiful future is waiting to greet you.
This isn’t a fairy tale; it’s ultimate reality – dare to believe it.
