Over the next six days, we’re going to look at the truth about me and you. One truth is this: as children we couldn’t tell the difference between lies and the truth if our lives depended on it. In fact, our lives did depend on it, but we were helpless; we couldn’t discern myth from reality. And that’s why, as adults, life doesn’t flow as well as it should for so many of us – we’re still holding onto lies about being inadequate or unworthy, and insisting these lies are true. We even build forts to defend our beliefs; forts in our minds and forts in the world.
Over the next six blogs, we will look directly at matters that matter – matters that can help us put our feet squarely on the ground and walk a direct path to where we want to go, so we can be who we want to be. Let’s begin:
Lesson 1 of 6: Rule The World
Take time today to walk outside and stare up at the sky. There you are – just you and the universe. And now take a moment to ponder that from that place where you stand looking out into space, there is only your point of view – and what you believe is true is giving your world to you. That makes you God; not in the sense that you are in charge of all-of-it from a grain of sand to the largest star in that far away galaxy, but from the sense of being alive and breathing and standing right where you are. What you think or say or do next is entirely up to you. There’s your power! Throw down the scepter by which you plan to rule the world. Toss out all of those dreams that you felt you couldn’t live without. What need is there for such ego-centric desires when you stand tall, looking at the universe, feeling fully alive? How can you use this lesson to make your day better? What insight does it give you to solve a problem or challenge confronting you?
