Over the next six days, we’re going to look at the truth about me and you. One truth is this: as children we couldn’t tell the difference between lies and the truth if our lives depended on it. In fact, our lives did depend on it, but we were helpless; we couldn’t discern myth from reality. And that’s why, as adults, life doesn’t flow as well as it should for so many of us – we’re still holding onto lies about being inadequate or unworthy, and insisting these lies are true. We even build forts to defend our beliefs; forts in our minds and forts in the world.
Over the next six blogs, we will look directly at matters that matter – matters that can help us put our feet squarely on the ground and walk a direct path to where we want to go, so we can be who we want to be. Let’s begin:
Lesson 2 of 6: The Only Opinion That Matters
Welcome to Lesson 2. Imagine not being intimidated at all by the opinions of others. Imagine realizing that only one opinion truly matters in your life. Go to a mirror, now. Look in the mirror. Point at that person that you see. Say, “You’re opinion is the only opinion that truly matters; so think twice before coming up with an opinion that can affect my life.” One important opinion that I suggest you ponder is this, “I am here to make something of value of my life.” Yes, indeed, you are a valuable asset to this ever-expanding universe, and it depends upon you to help it to expand with all that is good and beautiful. Contemplate this truth – the universe and you are in partnership together. It is always expanding, and you are a creative being, here to add to the growth of the universe is wonderful ways. How can you use this lesson to make your day better? What insight does it give you to solve a problem or challenge confronting you?
