This blog offers information that I’ve learned from my parrot, Shakespeare. Shaky (short for Shakespeare), has been with me for some thirty years now. Amongst the many lessons he taught me, one of my favorites is his demonstration of how to Aspire Higher by setting S.M.A.R.T. Goals.
Shaky is a confident bird, not shy and very direct about getting what he wants. He knows how to get results without wasting a lot of time. I have learned to use his S.M.A.R.T. strategy to do the things I need to do in order to make my dreams come true. And now, over the next five blogs, I am going to share this secret with you.
S.M.A.R.T. is an acronym for Shaky’s five-step process of right living:
Simple … Meaningful … Action … Responsible … Tuned in
Day Three: Action
Today, we are going to look at the third step – Action
Do you know what you have to do next, after stating your goal simply and feeling that it’s meaningful? You’ve got to take action. Why do so many folks falter with this step? Start each day with the simple affirmation, “My aim is to take action today.” Say it again. “My aim is to take action today.” Now, get out there and ACT AS THOUGH WHAT YOU WANT IS ALREADY SO. When Shaky says, “A carrot please,” he immediately sticks his foot forward (which now becomes his hand), waiting for me to hand him a carrot. He doesn’t hesitate. “A carrot please” … foot (hand) elevates, waiting for the carrot. How can I say No? I can’t!
How do you act as though it is already so? How would you dress if your dream was already your reality? Dress that way. What would you say, and to whom would you say it. Go ahead; say that. What do you need to do to open the door so opportunity can approach you? Do it Now. Learn the secret of taking action … learning from your mis-takes … so you may do a re-take … again … and again. Right there – that’s SMART to do.
When you are S.M.A.R.T. about your aims and aspirations, you create clear conditions so the manifestation penetrates your reality without complication. Stop loving the noise of your own mind; be S.M.A.R.T. Make it clear to your subconscious, that action is your middle name. Drop the fluff.
