Set Yourself Free From Mental Prison

020113_express054So many people condemn themselves to mental prison and don’t know they carry the key to freedom with them. When you succumb to fears of any nature (fear of failure, fear of criticism, fear of poverty), you condemn yourself to mental prison.

The key to set yourself free from mental prison is your innate ability to take command of your thoughts. When you take advantage of your inexorable right to take command of your thoughts, and you do so in a positive way – your fears begin to fall away.

  1. Our thoughts can get out of control sometimes.

Some stupid, negative thought crosses our mind and takes root. Though we catch and pull it as we do our mental weeding, our thoughts can very easily slip into more doubts. How do we keep letting such stupid, negative thoughts affect us?

I try to remind myself that, as my potential is infinite, so too will be my struggles. There is never a time when we are completely free of doubts. That’s why I keep coming back here, Rob. Those who think you’re sharing knowledge on how to build a machine – a finite process – are missing the point. You’re sharing how to best maintain the machines we already are.

Whenever there is any doubt, there is no doubt. That’s the first thing they teach you.

  2. Well stated, Brian. We have incredible creative machinery built into our success-system, don’t we. We are not building something new; we’re simply giving a tuneup to what we have. You are on top of that job, aren’t you. :-) Thank you.

  3. Rob, I agree with you and I love your post. The concept of mental prison is so real! More people need to understand this. The truth is that in life there will always be obstacles to overcome and hurdles to jump over. Having said that, the fear of failure and fear of the unknown does keep people locked, or if you like frozen in time.

Thanks for your post. I started my website/blog because I thought it was about time I overcame inertia and fear of the unknown. We just have to reach and do the things we need to do. I read today that “…your fear is 100% dependent on you for its survival.”

  4. Hi Jesse. Welcome! Yes, fear is dependent on the fearful. Physical pain is the universal language in which life teaches. And fear is a consequence of experiencing pain. Now, comes the trick. To overcome the fear. T’is an easy goal to set, and it requires individual initiative and endurance to learn how to overcome fear, doesn’t it.
