I came upon an interesting thought while walking around the pond yesterday. I spoke about it on my Thursday blog talk-radio show, and it is worthy of mentioning again – right now.
We are born onto the planet ready to kick some butt. We have an innate passion to breakthrough to newness every moment of every day. We love the feeling of WOW that accompanied us at birth (Wonderful Obsession With Winning in life).
And soon after learning to talk, we are hit with 60,000 No’s between age two and six … and we scurry into a Hassle Free Zone while wailing out WOE (What On Earth is causing me misery). We hunker down into a life style that feels hassle free and safe. “WOE is me, I don’t want to be hassled.”
Then we collect and gather other people who think like us to support our tiny Hassle Free existence. We build our own prison and invite others to live there with us. And they do. What’s amazing about the Hassle Free Zone is that it is a Dead Zone. There is no growth and development. You probably know it as your Comfort Zone.
A big problem with this zone, with prison walls surrounding it, is that it is the very prisoners that keep each other locked in it. Yes, the other inmates will try to stop you if you decide to ‘go for it’ and bust out into a new life. There are no prison guards, no warden … just other prisoners, other small thinkers that discourage you when you decide to recreate yourself anew so that you can open the prison door to a new world. “Don’t be stupid, you’ll just get hassled. It’s not worth it. Stay here with us where it’s safe.”
Can you see how you’ve fallen into this trap? It’s time to snap back. It’s time to break free and be the incredibly creative person you are meant to be. It’s time to aspire higher. I am here to motivate you. I am here to help you empower yourself. I cannot empower you. Only you can do that. If it is to be, it is up to thee! However, I can give you tips and insights that help you engage in self-empowerment. That is what the blog talk-radio show and these blogs are all about.
Thank you and blessings…
P.S. I am on my way to be “hassled” by holiday travel to spend time with my loved ones. I sincerely hope that you too are fortunate enough to be “hassled” this holiday season.
