Please note: Episode 2 of WROAR: The Six Stages of Creation is now available HERE.
I will be covering the Six Stages of Creation over the next few weeks. These Six Stages of Creation, when successfully achieved, enable you to stop enjoying your struggles and start enjoying life. Let’s begin with Stage One.
La Bruyere said, “A great spirit is above insult, injustice, grief and mockery.” This is what it takes to successfully achieve Stage One of the Six Stages of Creation – become a great spirit in attitude.
When you are a great spirit, you are above feelings that stop you from breaking through old tendencies and bad habits. Wow, that’s a mouthful. Read that statement again, slowly, so you can absorb it. When you are a great spirit, you are above feelings that stop you from breaking through old tendencies and bad habits. You need these breakthroughs if you are to express and experience your superlative creative nature (which is what you are here to do).
Are you willing to look at your ‘poor me’ personality, and not take it personally? We all have a ‘poor me’ act to some degree, or we’d all be fully realized beings! When you refuse to admit that you play the role of ‘poor me’ to some degree in your life, it’s because you are taking the matter personally, which is what you do when you feel insulted, or feel an injustice is being done to you.
Be aware of your expression – know thyself! That’s it – right there. You just learned what it takes to successfully achieve the first stage of creation. Know thy false self. Expose it for what it is. It is a Counterfeit Version of You!
So what do I mean by ‘being aware of the Counterfeit Self’? You must learn to truly be aware of the ‘Other Self’ that you’ve created so you can unlearn the process. You must be willing to see how you play ‘the victim role’, and wail out, “Poor me!” when things aren’t working as you want them to. As the mind is made intelligent to the insanity of taking on such a role, it begins cooperating with you to rid yourself of it.
The degree of inner-harmony in your life (in any domain of your life), is because you are not aware of how much you refuse to take responsibility for your life. (Me too … this is not just about you).
You cannot learn all the things that are right about you until you are willing to look at all the things that you do wrong because of the false version you’ve created yourself to be.
When you truly see that you do not know rightness when trying something new from the point of view of the Counterfeit Self, you open your mind to rightness. The very emptiness of not knowing rightness makes room for the truth to come to you.
None of this is negative. It is all very positive. Think of yourself as erasing the chalkboard in your mind. You want to know all of the tendencies and bad habits you’ve taken on, so you can erase them.
One aspect of breaking through the “WOE is me” identity is that you take the whole business less grimly. So Stage One is looking at how you’ve created yourself to be, and noticing how it isn’t working for you, and not taking it grimly. Grimness comes with not having answers and worrying that you never will have the answers. You will have answers as we progress through the Six Stages of Creation.
As you progress through the stages, you are going to experience a dawning of light deep inside of you. And then you are going to feel cheerfully relaxed.
Self-change is a most marvelous experience. Take the next day to objectively observe how you react to life in ways that limit you from being all you can be. Watch the ‘poor me’ tendencies, and say, “Your days are numbered.” Sincere watchfulness is always rewarding.
What have you learned from this blog? What might you suggest to help others learn more about the ‘poor me’ part of them? What does this blog bring up for you? Your comments help everyone (including me), to understand better how to see every challenge in life as a source of self-understanding … which exposes ‘poor me’ for the faker it is.
Thank you and blessings
