I don’t think human beings can help but have an ego. Without an ego, we’d respond to life like the creatures in the animal kingdom; we wouldn’t focus our creative energy in productive ways; we’d simply be running on ‘sex energy’. The human ego is a ‘self-assertive tendency’ that allows human beings to control their environment.
Your ego demonstrates through your personalities, in the way you dress, how you carry yourself, the kind of car you buy, and even in the type watch you wear (if you wear a watch at all). Your ego expresses itself in your facial expressions, your tone of voice, the stride of your walk. Your ego plays a big role in your attitude.
We all have our own unique ego. The ego is like a fingerprint; no two are exactly the same. Some egos need restraining (the loud, back-slapping type), some need a boost (the shy, wallflower type), and some work wonderfully, just as they are.
The ego is like a spark plug; it can spark a consciousness of prosperity, and you experience an enriching life. The ego can also spark a consciousness of scarcity, and you experience a sparse life. How are you doing with that?
People who feel comfortable with themselves have healthy egos. People who feel uncomfortable with themselves have vain egos (never satisfied). A healthy ego promotes a healthy mind. A vain ego causes a driven mind that acts without thinking.
Even the healthy ego can become rundown; it can need a boost now and again. How to boost one’s ego depends upon the individual. Some find a new car will do it. Some give it a boost by going out into the world and helping others. Some boost the ego by wearing nice clothes and being neat. Some boost it by giving love and compassion where needed.
KNOW THYSELF: what does it take to boost your ego? Have you given that any thought? You should.
I boost my ego several ways. I boost it with my extensive book collection, with my Master Mind Alliance meetings, with my long walks with Shakespeare (my pet parrot on my shoulder), with my displays of sincere generosity, and even with my supercharged edition Range Rover (I get a kick out of driving this more than my rare sports car).
Look for your ego-boosters. They are right there in front of you. Are you aware of what boosts your ego? Do you use them deliberately when your ego is in a slump? A boosted ego is not one that is overbearing. It’s one that supports you with your aspirations and aims. Don’t take this lightly. When you know the best ways to boost your ego, you have knowledge that can turn your mind around to WOW when it is caught in an attitude of WOE.
Has this post given you a different way of looking at your ego? Please share ways that you boost your ego. Please offer any insights or tips that you may have about the ego. Your comments help all of us bring more clarity to the topic of the week.
Thank you & blessings
